The 2022 festival is over. Next year's Festival will be Nov. 4-5, 2023 - stay tuned!
Regional experts, along with knowledgeable members of the Wild Rivers Mushroom Club, will be leading mushroom identification hikes both days.
We will schedule multiple hikes each day, and groups will be kept small (averaging 15 people per hike) so that everyone will have a chance to learn. Each person going on a hike will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
One should dress for the weather, especially since the coast is often drizzly or rainy in November. Anticipate getting wet: wear sturdy, water-resistant shoes, bring rain gear, dress in layers. When you sign up for a hike, you'll get directions on where the hike will be and if driving is involved to get there. Club members will be on hand to help get you situated.
Please note: We are offering these hikes for the purpose of identifying the diversity of fungi in our region. We cannot allow any HARVESTING during these hikes. Some of the hikes are being held on land where harvesting is forbidden, and/or where a permit is needed. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
So be sure to get signed up at the door before you do anything else! The one exception is the first hike of each morning - see the schedule below for the particulars.
The cost for hikes will vary, and most will last one hour. Many are within walking distance from the festival, although there will be a few that require driving.
All other information, including the locations of the afternoon hikes, will be available at the festival ticket tent.
