Regional experts, along with knowledgeable members of the Wild Rivers Mushroom Club, will be leading mushroom identification hikes both days.
We will schedule multiple hikes each day, and groups will be kept small (averaging 15 people per hike) so that everyone will have a chance to learn. Each person going on a hike will be asked to sign a liability waiver.
One should dress for the weather, especially since the coast is often drizzly or rainy in November. Anticipate getting wet: wear sturdy, water-resistant shoes, bring rain gear, dress in layers. When you sign up for a hike, you'll get directions on where the hike will be and if driving is involved to get there. Club members will be on hand to help get you situated.
Please note: We are offering these hikes for the purpose of identifying the diversity of fungi in our region. We cannot allow any HARVESTING during these hikes. Some of the hikes are being held on land where harvesting is forbidden, and/or where a permit is needed. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
So be sure to check back here the day after Labor Day (Sept. 5th) when tickets for the workshops, presentations, and ID hikes will ALL go on sale.
The cost for the hikes will vary, and most will last one hour. Many of the hikes will also require driving to the site; we hope to announce those locations to ticket holders at least a week before the festival.
Note: any changes or additional information concering the hikes will be available during the festival at the information table.
