Regional experts, along with knowledgeable members of the Wild Rivers Mushroom Club, will be leading mushroom identification hikes both days.
We will schedule multiple hikes each day, and groups will be kept small (averaging 15 people per hike) so that everyone will have a chance to learn. Each person going on a hike will be asked to sign a liability waiver. One should dress for the weather, especially since the coast is often drizzly or rainy in November. Anticipate getting wet: wear sturdy, water-resistant shoes, bring rain gear, dress in layers.
All ticket holders will receive an email sometime during the week of the festival, letting you know where your hike will be, along with directions for driving there. Club members will also be on hand the day of to help get you situated.
Please note: We are offering these hikes for the purpose of identifying the diversity of fungi in our region. We cannot allow any HARVESTING during these hikes. Some of the hikes are being held on land where harvesting is forbidden, and/or where a permit is needed. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
In response to overwhelming feedback, we are DOUBLING the number of hikes we can lead this year! That way, as many festival goers as possible can experience our mushroom habitat with local and regional experts!
Space is limited, and the cost for each hike is $10 per person. Kids 12 & under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Each hike usually lasts about 1-1/2 hours, including drive time (all the hikes will require driving to the site.)
Note: any changes concerning the hikes will be available during the festival at the information table.
